All-on-4 Dental Implants: A Guide to Full-Arch Restoration
A plain-English guide to All-on-4 full-arch dental implants at our partner clinic in Bucharest: how it works, who it suits, realistic from-prices versus UK costs, and recovery.
All-on-4 is a way of replacing a full arch of teeth (an upper or lower jaw) using just four implants to support a fixed bridge. For people facing the loss of most or all of their teeth, or living with dentures that move, it offers a stable, fixed set of teeth without an implant for every tooth. This guide explains how it works, who it suits, and what it realistically costs.
What All-on-4 is
Rather than placing one implant per tooth, All-on-4 uses four implants positioned to make the most of the available bone: two placed towards the front of the jaw, where bone is usually denser, and two angled at the back to gain maximum support. A bridge of 10 to 14 teeth is then fixed onto those implants.
Because the implants are angled to use existing bone, many patients can avoid the bone grafting that individual implants sometimes require. That isn’t true for everyone, though, and your scan will show what your case needs.
Who it suits
All-on-4 is generally considered for people who are missing most or all of the teeth in a jaw, have failing teeth that need removing, or want a fixed alternative to a removable denture. Good candidates have enough healthy bone, gums free of active disease, and realistic expectations about the process.
It isn’t right for everyone, and we won’t pretend otherwise. A CBCT 3D scan and consultation confirm whether it’s suitable for you before anything is decided. The clinic’s stated principle is that a tooth which can be saved should be saved. So if a less extensive treatment would serve you better, that’s what your plan will recommend.
How the treatment works
- Assessment and planning. You start with photos and any X-rays you have, then a consultation by phone or WhatsApp. A CBCT 3D scan at the clinic maps your bone so the implants can be planned precisely.
- Placing the implants. The four implants are placed under local anaesthetic, with comfort and sedation options discussed beforehand. Any teeth that need removing are taken out at the same stage.
- A fixed transitional bridge. In many cases a fixed transitional set of teeth can be fitted so you’re not left without teeth while everything heals.
- The final bridge. After healing, your final bridge is made in the clinic’s in-house digital laboratory and fitted. Your plan sets out how many visits this involves.
What All-on-4 costs
The figures below are “from” prices at our partner clinic, next to typical UK private prices, per arch (one jaw).
| Treatment (per arch) | Bucharest, from | Typical UK private |
|---|---|---|
| All-on-4 complete package (4 implants + fixed bridge) | £3,740 (€4,400) | ~£14,000 |
| All-on-6 complete package (6 implants + fixed bridge) | £5,145 (€6,050) | ~£16,000 |
| Immediate-load transitional bridge (interim) | £775 (€910) | n/a |
A note on prices: figures shown are indicative “from” prices, not a quote. Your exact price is fixed in your written treatment plan after a dental scan, once the clinic has reviewed your case. UK comparison figures are typical private prices and will vary. There are no hidden fees: your plan sets out exactly what’s included.
An important point of honesty: the complete-package figures cover the implants and the fixed bridge, but not the CBCT scan, any sedation, extractions, or bone grafting and sinus lifts that some cases need beforehand. Where those apply to you, they’re itemised in your plan so you can see the full picture before deciding. Even with those extras and travel included, most patients still save well within the 50 to 70% range against UK private prices.
Recovery
Expect some swelling and tenderness in the first few days, easing over the following weeks, with a soft diet to begin with. You’ll have clear written aftercare instructions before you fly home. Full healing and the final bridge take a few months, and looking after the result well (good hygiene and regular check-ups) is a large part of how long it lasts.
Guarantees and support
Your implants and the bridge come with a written guarantee, set out in your plan before any work starts. Back in the UK we stay reachable by phone, email and WhatsApp, and if a small adjustment is ever needed we help you arrange it with the clinic. Your treatment is fully documented so your own dentist can handle routine check-ups.
